In the same year, in the month of December, the airport landed its first regular service. Simultaneously the work for improvement continued under the supervision of KRG PM Mr. Nechirvan Barzani. It has special terminals for VIP which includes visiting dignitaries plus Diplomats. It is located close to Central city thus reducing long transfers from along with to the airstrip. The overall expense for its construction went upto 550 million US dollars, entire sum was raised by KSG.

Facility of travelling via air has indeed developed it more thereby seeking attention from all over the world.
